As we wind our way through this captivating terrain, you’ll be treated to the finest local cuisine and wines, handpicked from our favourite trattorias and Lucca’s top restaurants. Our expert local team, fluent in both Italian and English, will unveil the hidden artistic treasures of this area as we guide you along scenic routes.

Bike Tour Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Pisa International Airport, our dedicated staff will warmly welcome you and accompany you to your charming hotel in the heart of Lucca. After indulging in a delightful light lunch, we’ll prepare for the journey ahead with a bike tune-up and our initial warm-up ride fondly referred to as “sgambatella” in Italian slang. This ride will gently awaken our leg muscles, ensuring they’re ready for the exciting days that lie ahead. In mere minutes, we’ll transition from the vibrant city centre of Lucca to the stunning hills adorned with ancient olive groves and sprawling vineyards. Later, we’ll come together for a refreshing aperitif in one of the most inviting local enotecas, where we’ll raise our glasses to the incredible week that awaits us. Our day concludes as we return to the hotel to prepare for an exquisite dinner at one of Lucca’s finest restaurants.

Our day kicks off with a sumptuous Italian breakfast, setting the stage for our next adventure. Once we’re fueled and ready, we’ll embark on a ride that leads us through the picturesque countryside of this remarkable region. Our route includes the awe-inspiring ascent toward Monte Serra. This is no ordinary climb; it spans about 8 kilometres and maintains an average gradient of 6%. However, there’s no need to rush; we’ll take it at a comfortable pace, allowing us to savour the breathtaking landscapes that unfold before us. Once we reach the pinnacle, we’ll pause to capture the moment with photos and soak in the mesmerizing view of Pisa, including its iconic leaning tower. Our descent takes us through Calci and Nozzano Castello, where the journey continues with an additional 20 kilometres of delightful riding. We’ll eventually approach the final, gentle ascent, a 3.5-kilometer stretch leading us to the charming Pieve S. Stefano, surrounded by ancient olive groves. As the day comes to a close, we’ll return to Lucca, where you’ll have the freedom to explore the city’s captivating sights or simply unwind before joining us for a memorable dinner.

The morning begins with a satisfying breakfast, preparing us for another day of exploration in this captivating region. We’ll hit the road, following peaceful routes that wind through lush forests and picturesque valleys. Our journey leads us to the ancient village of Fiano, a place where we’ll pause to savour a breathtaking vista of the sea. From here, a gradual climb awaits us, guiding us to the heights of Passo Sella, nestled in the heart of the remarkable Apuan Alps National Park. As our appetite builds, we’ll find ourselves in San Rocco, a charming medieval hamlet, where a homemade lunch will be served. After this delightful reprieve, we’ll saddle up once more for a descent, gracefully navigating gentle ascents and smooth descents – what Italians fondly refer to as “Mangia e bevi.” Along the way, we’ll pass through the enchanting Turrite Cava. Our journey continues alongside the serene Serchio River, where we’ll be captivated by the striking sight of Ponte del Diavolo. Upon our return to the hotel, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind and recharge before an evening of culinary delights.

We’ll gear up to explore scenic routes that wind past splendid ancient villas, setting the tone for what’s to come. Our route takes us to Matraia, a place where we’ll pause to discover its renowned Roman Catholic church and capture the moment with some photographs. As we continue pedalling, we’ll traverse the stunning countryside, passing through groves of ancient olive trees and vineyards. Our journey leads us to Collodi and then to Montecarlo, a charming medieval hamlet known for its remarkable vineyards and captivating valley views. Montecarlo also boasts the Wine and Olive Oil Trail of Lucca, a culinary treasure trove featuring wine cellars and opportunities to sample local delights. Afterwards, we’ll cycle back to Lucca. And don’t forget to visit the town’s oldest pastry shop before we gather for a sumptuous dinner, a perfect conclusion to this incredible day.

Our journey today commences in Lucca, embarking on a picturesque route that unveils the region’s captivating countryside. As we set out, we’ll soon encounter a gentle climb that rewards us with a mesmerizing panorama, showcasing the enchanting Massaciuccoli and the Versilia coast. It’s worth noting that this area was frequented by the renowned composer Giacomo Puccini, who found inspiration amidst these stunning landscapes. After a leisurely descent and a stretch of flat terrain, we’ll face the gentle ascent of Monte Pitoro. This 6.5-kilometre climb at an average gradient of 7% takes us through Gombitelli, a charming medieval hamlet graced with the remnants of its famous castle and the graceful San Michele church. Here, we’ll savour a cyclist-friendly lunch that refuels us for the journey ahead. Continuing our route, we’ll navigate a long slope along the picturesque Serchio Valley, leading us back to Lucca. As the day’s cycling adventure concludes, we’ll relish a well-deserved and delightful dinner, culminating another unforgettable day.

Our route commences with a delightful ride along scenic, flat roads that wind through the captivating landscape of the Freddana Valley. As we continue, we’ll encounter a gentle 3% climb leading us to Monte Magno, followed by a thrilling descent into Camaiore. Here, we pedal along the flatlands to Pietrasanta, a renowned town celebrated for its marble and bronze workshops, its thriving artistic community, and an array of monuments that grace its streets. As the day progresses, we’ll embark on a challenging ascent to Capriglia, a picturesque village perched amidst the rolling hills. From this vantage point, we’ll be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of the boundless sea and the majestic Ligurian Gulf. With our spirits invigorated, we’ll navigate a thrilling descent that unfolds captivating coastal views, guiding us back to Pietrasanta. Upon our return, we’ll be welcomed with open arms and a traditional, homemade lunch that showcases the finest local delicacies.
